 GTU to train manpower for glass industry

The varsity will sign an MoU with a company in Nov for skill development programme. Use of glass in buildings might have gained popularity but there is a dearth of trained manpower which can understand the nitty-gritty and technical aspects of it. Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has decided to fill in the void and launch two short-term courses for people aiming to work or already working in either glass industry or construction business. On September 23, 2014 (Tuesday-Mangal in Hindi) night, India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) successfully reached the position from where it was to enter Martian orbit. It had travelled 10 months, covering a distance of 420 million miles (661 million km). Hitherto Mangalyaan was on the set course. The challenge, now, was to insert it into the Red Planet’s orbit. This required accurate calculation of distance and the determination of the exact time and the point at which to insert the spacecraft into the orbit of Mars (gravity about 38% of Earth’s).

Innovation is better in India than anywhere in world:Deshpande
From Lalit K Jha  Washington, Oct 21 (PTI) Describing India as a ripe ground for innovation, an eminent Indian American venture capitalist and entrepreneur believes that innovation is happening better in the country than anywhere else in the world.  “Innovation is happening in India better than anywhere in the world,” said Gururaj (Desh) Deshpande, who is best known for co-founding the internet equipment manufacturer Sycamore Networks, the Deshpande Centre for Technological Innovation at MIT and the Deshpande Foundation.  Delivering the maiden American Bazaar Philanthropy Lecture here over the weekend, Deshpande said India has all the ingredients required for making the country a hub of global innovation.  “India is now a globally competitive talent, which was not the case earlier,” he said. ગુજરાતવાઇબ્રન્ટ ગ્લોબલ ઈન્વેસ્ટર્સ સમિટની સાતમી આવૃત્તિ જાન્યુઆરી, 2015માં યોજાનાર છે તે પૂર્વે રાજ્ય સરકારે ત્રણ મહત્વની નીતિઓની જાહેરાત કરવાનો નિર્ણય કર્યો છે. સોમવારે રાજ્યના નાણાં મંત્રી સૌરભ પટેલ સાયન્સ એન્ડ ટેકનોલોજી વિભાગે તૈયાર કરેલી ઈન્ફર્મેશન ટેકનોલોજી, ઈલેક્ટ્રોનિક્સ અને ઈ-ગવર્નન્સ પોલિસીની જાહેરાત કરશે. તાજેતરમાં પ્રદેશ કોંગ્રેસે રાજ્યમાં છેલ્લા ત્રણ વર્ષથી જાહેર થયેલી આઈટી પોલીસી અંગે રાજ્યની ભાજપ સરકારની ટીકા કરી હતી અને આક્ષેપ કર્યો હતો કે આના પરિણામે વૈશ્વિક કક્ષાએ થયેલા વિકાસનો ગુજરાત લાભ લઈ શક્યું નથી. વાઇબ્રન્ટ સમિટ 2015ની તૈયારીઓના ભાગરૂપે ઓગસ્ટ મહિનામાં નવી દિલ્હી ખાતે ગુજરાત સરકારે એક કર્ટેન રેઝરનું પ્રેઝન્ટેશન કર્યું હતું. જેમાં રાજ્યના નાણાં મંત્રી સૌરભ પટેલે સાયન્સ એન્ડ ટેકનોલોજી ક્ષેત્રની નીતિઓ જાહેર કરવાની ખાતરી આપી હતી. તેમણે પણ કહ્યું હતું કે, અત્યારે દેશમાં મહત્વની આયાતોમાં હાર્ડવેરનું પ્રમાણ વધુ રહે છે અને તેનું દેશમાં ઉત્પાદન થાય તે અગત્યનું છે. ગુજરાત સરકાર જે ક્ષેત્ર પર ફોકસ મૂકે છે તેને ક્ષેત્રના તાર્કિક પરિણામ સુધી પહોંચાડે છે.
