Solar desalination for Indian villages

A new initiative could create off-the-grid solar-powered desalination plants that could provide palatable drinking water to rural Indian communities with salty groundwater. Sleepless Indian space scientists on Sunday began the process of `waking up' the engine of the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft for a four-second test on September 21. Three days later, it will be put to its ultimate test -firing for 24 minutes to slow down the MOM and inject it into the Martial orbit. Fee committee asks engg, pharma colleges to cut fee

Nearly a quarter of the degree colleges may have to slash fee by up to 20 per cent. As Fee Regulatory Committee was to revise fee for colleges offering professional courses this year, many colleges demanded significant fee hike – up to 30 per cent beginning this academic year. However, a systematic analysis of the financial statements and facilities provided by the colleges, FRC is said to have advised nearly a fourth of such colleges to slash their fees. Read More
