Membrane can clean almost any oil spill
Mumbai Mirror | 8 July 2014
Researchers have developed a membrane that can
separate even highly mixed fine oil spill residues that could otherwise cause
severe damage to our environment… Whenever there is a major spill of oil into
water, the two tend to mix into a suspension of tiny droplets, called an
emulsion, that is extremely hard to separate and that can cause severe damage
to ecosystems. But Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers have
discovered a new, inexpensive way of getting the two fluids apart again. Read

people and work culture. What should you do to connect and interact with
co-workers who will scrutinise you as much as you will try to read them… When
you start your new job, you face a lot of anxiety about the new work
environment, colleagues, your boss and the learning curve. The first and the
most important task on hand is breaking the ice with co-workers. What works to

Let's talk trash : Mumbai's seven thousand
tonnes of daily garbage can give us useful electricity
Ahmedabad Mirror | 14 Jul 2014

today. How did we get into this muck? There's no use blaming population growth,
or even population density. Parts of London, New York, Hong Kong or Tokyo have
as high or even higher population density, for some parts of the working day.
Hence there is something else to blame. Don't go to the other extreme of
berating our own culture. But it was Mahatma Gandhi who emphasised cleanliness
as a top virtue for his countrymen. Read
